Reiki is made of two Japanese words REI which means God or Higher Power and KI which is life force energy.
Reiki is therefore a spiritually guided life-force energy.
What to expect during a Reiki Treatment?
Upon arrival, we will discuss your health. You will be asked to remove your shoes and lie back on a therapy coach. You will be bathed in a blanket. The room will be softly lit, with gentle relaxing music in the background.
Reiki is given in a series of hand movements, both on and off the body, starting at the crown of the head down the entire body to the feet.
No two people or two treatments are the same for anyone. All do agree however that you experience a beautiful feeling of wellbeing, calmness and deep inner peace. The majority of people feel warmth from the practitioner’s hands as healing and rebalancing take place. Some may also feel cold energy this is as a result of blocked or stagnant energies that are being dissolved. Some people see beautiful colours and very few may experience no sensations whatsoever. This is absolutely fine. Reiki works whether you feel a sensation or not. Emotions can be gently released and healed. Reiki goes where it is needed, be that in the body, mind or emotionally. Many people relax into a deep state of consciousness.
Upon completion I will gently guide you back into everyday awareness. You will be given a glass of water.
A Reiki healing session lasts for 75 minutes. It is important that you allow yourself at least one hour when you leave a healing session to give your body time to adjust to the energetic changes that have occurred. It is also advised that you should drink lots of water to help flush out the toxins.

There are no side effects from a Reiki treatment. Very few people experience exaggerated symptoms for up to 24 hours and then feel relief. It stands well as a holistic therapy, it has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. Alternatively, it can be used in conjunction with all medical or therapeutic techniques. Reiki can help speed up recovery times. It has become widely recognized by conventional Doctors and Consultants, resulting in some hospitals allowing Reiki Practitioners to work alongside doctors to help their patients. For those in good health, it is used to de-stress or as a preventative treatment.
The number of Reiki sessions required is unique to each individual. As a general rule, chronic long-term problems do take longer to heal, although in some cases recovery can happen after one session. I am happy to discuss this with you when we meet.
